Foster Cats
The foster program helps FCRT learn more about an individual cat's habits and personality to better match each cat with that perfect forever home!
And cats in foster homes benefit from the socialization they receive by interacting with their foster families. We need more foster homes for:
- Cats residing at one of Fancy Cats locations- this gives the cats a break from their time in a cage!
- New intakes, male and female, young and old, sick and healthy.
During kitten season (March through October), our need for foster homes skyrockets. |

Types of Foster Homes:
Long-Term |
|
Short-Term |
- Has cats staying longer than eight weeks.
- Has cats that:
- Want to be the only cat in the house.
- React very negatively to being in a cage
- Are older.
- Have a special medical need.
- These cats may need to be adopted off the website because they cannot come to adoptions fairs due to stress from the event or a medical issue.
- It is important to approach long-term fostering as if the foster cat may be in your home from one to three or more years. Cats with medical needs may be in your home for even longer.
|
- Has cats that:
- Need a break from one of our store locations.
- Are highly adoptable but need to be in a home environment, such as kittens or shy cats.
- Assists our organization with many emergency intake cases when needed.
- Usually lasts from two to eight weeks, but can sometimes run longer.
