Have you lost your cat? Here are some things to try.
- Look everywhere.
- Check your house inside and out.
- Ask your neighbors to check their garages, sheds, under their decks, etc.
- Look under brush and treed areas within one mile. Your cat may be trapped (especially if wearing a non-break away or flea collar) and unable to get home.
- Put a can of warmed up tuna on your front step as well as his/her food and water. This may bring your cat out of hiding.
- Put up physical signs everywhere. Include your cat's picture along with a good description, a contact number, and reward amount. Ideas of where to post ads:
- Your neighborhood
- Surrounding neighborhoods
- Vet offices
- Pet stores
- Grocery stores
- Gas stations
- Newspaper
- Etc.

- Put up electronic ads everywhere. Include your cat's picture along with a good description, a contact number, and reward amount. Ideas of where to post ads:
- Craigslist
- Petfinder
- Lost Pet SOS
- Tabby Tracker
- Pet Harbor
- Missing Pet Network (MPN)
- Etc.
***Tip: Look at "Found" ads at these locations.
- Check local and surrounding animal shelters every other day.
- If your cat is not fixed, s/he can and will travel for days and miles to breed, which means your search radius should be increased. If your cat is fixed, he/she will most likely stay with 1/8 of a mile from his home (unless someone picked him/her up).
- If you know the general vicinity of where your cat may be, borrow a live animal trap from your local animal control. Put a warm can of tuna in the cage, at the end opposite the trap's opening.
Note: Be sure to keep an eye on the trap at all times (at a distance) in case of predators, bad weather, bad-intentioned people, catching another animal by mistake, etc. - Try a pet detective with a tracking dog. Use Google to do a search compare of pet detectives in your area.
